Papercraft
Papercraft is a project inspired by traditional birch bark basket making techniques and the popular contemporary practice of making stylized paper figures based on the kind of simplified polygonal geometries found in video game 3D models. The project is concerned with the construction of self supporting three dimensional abstract forms and vessels through the manipulation of two dimensional mediums such as wood veneer and paper.

Alex,
these are beautiful! When did you do them? (I don’t see a date.)
Thanks Michael! It was October of 2008, when I first began experimenting with these paper forms. The summer after graduation I didn’t do much making, and this project was a way for me to start doing creative work again. I documented the process on some of my earlier blog posts.
